Sheriff’s Report

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity:

TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

On 05/26/2023 at 2:06 AM, Eric Steven Abbott of Camp Point struck a deer on IL 99. There were no injuries reported and damage to the vehicle was over $1500.00.

On 05/27/2323 at 10:37 PM a Juvenile from Mt. Sterling while on 910 E St. backed into a vehicle owned by Jennifer Blaesing of Mt. Sterling. Damage to both vehicles were over $1500.00.

On 05/28/2023 at 12:01 AM, Austin R. Rayborn of Mt. Sterling struck a deer on 1400E @ 825N. There were no injuries reported and damage to the vehicle was over $1500.00.

On 05/28/2023 at 6:21 AM John J. Beatty of Pittsfield was operating a motorcycle traveling north on IL 107 and struck the rear of a hay wagon operated by Roger Zimmerman of Mt. Sterling that was turning into a Field Entrance. Mr. Beatty was transported by Brown County ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy with serious injuries.

For the month of May deputies participated in the IDOT Memorial Day Campaign for occupant protection from 05/19/2023-05/31/2023. Deputies patrolled the county and issued the following citations. 26 Seat belt citations, 5 speeding citations, 2 distracted driving citations, and 8 other citations
